First class and first assignment! Here we go!

Assignment 1: PERSONALITY PERSONIFICATION PROJECT

For this first assignment, I didn’t know what to expect, I wasn’t fully prepared and maybe didn’t fully understand what I needed to do. Before my first day of class, I wanted to get a new iPad with an Apple Pencil to be able to use for my classes since I would be doing everything online. I bought then iPad, pencil and case from Facebook marketplace (used) and got a really good deal! The iPad and pencil were brand new and well taken care of. I joined the first life class excited and ready to get going with my new iPad and Apple Pencil.

During the first class I learned a lot of basic things that will later on help me to understand more complex concepts. For the first assignment, I had to create a visual composition introducing your personality through the personification of an object.

As you can see, the object I chose was a mango. Why a mango? Because a mango is tropical, I love them, it reminds me of all the times I was in Colombia eating mangos and I could do a lot with a mango.

I wanted to show my story with the mango and how I did that was showing the mango growing on a tree with lots of light and everything it needs. Once the mango is grown, it dances in the wind with other mango while it’s on the tree. The next part shows a hand coming to grab the mango from the tree and taking it. The mango is then inside, where it’s dark and no sunlight, by a bowl of other mangos. When I was creating this, I thought of my story, and how I was taken from one place to another. With time, other mangos are taken and I showed that mango getting older. At the end, the mango is alone by the bowl and rotting.

I’m not sure why the page for this if not white but I think I was just rushing to hand this part in and didn’t have time to fix it. For part two of the assignment, we had to pick the best three and show movement and emotion of the object. In the first one, I showed movement with the wind and happiness with the other mangos. Next, with the lines around the mango on the ground to show it shaking and fear. Last, I showed the mango alone and rotting with lines of smell to show movement and the emotion was sadness.

For the last part of the assignment, I needed a specific size and this would be my final illustration. I showed the elements we learned in class, told a story and demonstrated emotion in the final illustration. This part of the assignment shows me as the mango, in Colombia, dancing in the wind with other mangos. As you will see, a lot of my assignments have a lot of me in them, things I like and know. I hope you continue with me in the journey of being back at school.
